Change Log
11 May 2007 version 1.1.343
- Improvement: Improved portability (USB drive) support - It now handles the case where the software is installed on a USB drive letter that keeps changing.
Settings (.ini file) are now stored wherever the program is installed.
Also, the installer now asks if you would like a start menu shortcut installed.
- Bugfix: Corrected scheduled checks not working (and other settings that weren't read correctly from the new settings file)
22 Apr 2007 version 1.1.323
- Improvement: Settings are now stored in a config file rather than the registry, meaning the application is now portable (e.g for running from a USB drive)
29 Aug 2006 version 1.1.190
- BUGFIX: Fixed a problem reading secure websites
- Improvement: Added an option to not monitor the clipboard.
26 April 2006 version 1.1.157
- Improvement: The list now remembers your sorting preference - which column, and whether ascending or descending
- BUGFIX: Fixed a problem where the tray icon would disappear (I hope)
- BUGFIX: Fixed a crash that sometimes happened when the program exited, after help had been viewed.
17 April 2006 version 1.1.122
- Improvement: You can now switch between saved revisions.
- Improvement: Each URL can now have it's own schedule for update checks. e.g. You can check one web page every 4 hours, but check another only once a week.
- Improvement: Automatically checks for program updates
21 Jan 2006 version 1.0.357
- Improvement: Added support for Gmail, or any email server that requires encryption(SSL). Now you can send your email notifications to your Gmail account. If you use Gmail, send your email to smtp.gmail.com, port 465, and tick the SSL box.
- BUGFIX: Added some DLLs to the installation package. This prevents messages on startup like "SSLEAY32.DLL not found" if you didn't have those installed already.
14 Jan 2006 version 1.0.330
- Improvement: More comprehensive help file. Help is also available online
- Improvement: Setting partial page watches now deselects full page watch settings. Previously, if you only watched part of a page, you had to remember to turn off the full page watch options. Now they turn off automatically. This makes page watch setup less error prone.
31 Dec 2005 version 1.0.310
- BUGFIX: Internet Explorer favorites import (another bugfix) - Thanks to Steven for the bug report.
- Improvement: Added an option to load all changed web pages in a web browser - Thanks to Matt for the suggestion. See File/Preferences/Notifications/Browser/Open changed web page in a web browser.
10 Dec 2005 version 1.0.302
- BUGFIX: Internet Explorer favorites are now imported correctly
6 Dec 2005 version 1.0.291
- Improvement: When you exit the program, and restart it, the window size and position are now restored to where they were last
- Improvement: Added a log file for Internet Explorer favorites importing. Some users are reporting problems with IE import, so this will help track down any issues.
15 Nov 2005 version 1.0.257
- BUGFIX: "Download page details" button causes
intermittent crash.
31 Oct 2005 version 1.0.183
- BUGFIX: Clicking on the column heading to sort causes a
crash
- BUGFIX: When checking for change of just 1 url, via right
click menu, plays sound notification or sends an email sometimes even
if no change was detected.
- Change: Watches exact page content by default, rather than
page size
- Change: When deleteing a url, deletes associated capture
file(s), and diffs
22 Oct 2005 version 1.0.161
There are a lot of improvements in this version
- New: Now supports authorisation - for those websites that
require a login
- New: Major efficiency improvement - Support for
conditional-get/etags/last-modified. Status will now show as
"OK-Skipped" for those websites that support this method. This
indicates that Internet Owl didn't need to download the page to
determine that there were no changes. This speeds things up and saves
bandwidth
- Improvement: If there are no changes logged, it now shows
an empty change log rather than nothing at all
- BUGFIX: Automatic proxy is now working. This is very useful
for those people behind a company web proxy / firewall
- BUGFIX: Watching for text is now case insensitive
- BUGFIX: Changing proxy detail no longer requires
application restart
- BUGFIX: Spanish version of windows crashes on IE import.
Might be fixed - I can't test it.
- BUGFIX: Column widths could previously be resized to zero
making them disappear. They now have a minimum width
- BUGFIX: When cancelled, status showed timeout rather than
cancelled
- BUGFIX: If autosave starts while checks are in progress, it
showed as user cancelled
- Improvement: HTTP failure codes now shown on GUI E.g. 403,
504, 300
- Improvement: Status is now "checking for changes" when
starting
- BUGFIX: When checking a url, via right click menu, summary
showed that all urls were checked.
- Improvement: Differences page now shows the url, and the
date/time of the saved versions.
- BUGFIX: download page details crashes
- BUGFIX: Name field in URL properties dialog is now not
overwritten by title if it's already empty.
29th August 2005 version 1.0.50
- bugfix: fixed differencing of html files
